Normally out of the fire logs there are only a certain amount that will need to be split.
A maul is a faster way to split the easier ones.
Save the hard ones for the power wood splitter.
It doesn't make sense to use this to split the easy ones.
Unless you want to operate this because it so much fun.
When you obtain one of these spend some time studying the operation manual.
This is a machine that can do a good job for the task you want done.
But it is like any machinery it can do harm to body parts.
Always know where your limbs are before operating the selector to split.
I believe it is a good idea to keep others back out of harms way while operating the machine.
Two people can make more fire wood quicker, but not as safe as one.

There have been incidents were with two people operating one of these the selector operator got in a hurry and drove the splitter down before the other person had their hand out of the way.
The end result was that this person almost lost his thumb.
It took him quite awhile to heal from this injury.
